Solutions

Reduction in Serious Youth Violence and Exploitation Team (ReSET) is a multi-agency team made up of specialists, including youth workers, youth offending workers, health workers, education workers and police officers. Children, young people (aged 10 to 25) and their families have access to a range of specialist services under one roof.

The feature is a ‘whole systems’ approach – by working with the child / young person, family and the community. The team uses a contextual safeguarding approach that looks at the important circumstances in young people’s lives, such as their friendships and where they spend their time, many of which have a crucial influence on their safety and vulnerability.

What the service does

  • Identify children and young people at risk.

  • Provide a response to address the range of underlying needs of the young people and their families such as the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, Special Educational Needs, speech, language and communication difficulties, the experience of trauma, exclusions from school and living in poverty.

  • Use the full range of measures to prevent youth violence.
