About the city. Istanbul is one of the most important tourism spots not only in Turkey but also in the world. There are thousands of hotels and other tourist-oriented industries in the city.
Goal
The main goal is to promote Istanbul and its values using digital platforms internationally. In addition, the project gives advice to those who want to visit Istanbul.
Implementation period. The project was launched in March 2019.
Fact
According to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index, the number of visitors to Turkey’s commercial and cultural hub, Istanbul, was 11.6 million in 2014. It beat cities like Barcelona, Rome and Tokyo. Moreover, according to the report published by the European Travel Commission in 2018, Turkey had the biggest tourist count increase among 33 European countries.

Visit Istanbul is a city branding project, Turkey’s first official city marketing project. It’s the official digital campaign of Istanbul that is created to introduce Istanbul to the world.
The target countries of the project are the USA, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Gulf Countries, India, and China. In addition to attracting tourists and increasing the awareness of the city, the project aims to create an instant and up-to-date archive of important points in Istanbul.
Before and after the launch of the site, the following activities were carried out:
- At the end of March 2019, the world-renowned travel phenomenon was hosted in Istanbul for 5 days for promotional and image campaigns.
- Four social media fashion phenomena met in Istanbul at the end of February 2019. Laura Comolli from Italy, Barbora Ondrackova from the Czech Republic, Michele Krusi from Switzerland and Simla Canpolat from Turkey. They made a tour of Istanbul for 3 days and shared it with their followers.
- The first promotional film of the Visit Istanbul project, “Meet With History Of Your Dream City” was published on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts of the project.
On the project’s website, you can find several interactive categories: “Life in Istanbul”, ”What to eat”, “Where to go?”, “What to do?”, “Information”, “Watch”. On the site, you can find information not only about attractions, public catering, but also important facts about transport, visa processing, and so on.
