Shanghai, China
About the city. Cycling is booming in Shanghai in 2024, along with outdoor activities and social media. A city of 20 million people is something interesting and unique, and there’s plenty to ride if you want to. There are plenty of groups for different tastes, levels and styles.
Goal
The aim of the project is to merge sports, commerce, and social engagement, catering to young consumers and breathing new life into traditional brands.
Implementation period. The project was launched in 2024.
Fact
- As a supporting sub-event of the Shanghai Tourism Festival, the Shanghai Cycling Festival has been held for five consecutive years. This Shanghai Cycling Festival skilfully combines Shanghai’s food, beautiful scenery and rich and diverse leisure formats. The three parties work together to respond to the combination of “commerce, culture, tourism and sports”, and innovatively use the “cycling + retail + aerobic social” model to successfully reach young consumer groups, giving strong impetus to the renewal of time-honoured brands.
Solutions
Shanghai, a bustling metropolis renowned for its rich history and vibrant culture, has unveiled a city-ride festival aimed at showcasing the city’s enchanting features to cycling enthusiasts. The festival introduces eight themed bike routes that wind through iconic landmarks and scenic spots, offering riders a unique perspective of Shanghai’s diverse landscape.
Highlights of these cycling routes include the inclusion of scenic locations such as the Suzhou Creek Park Half Marathon, as well as downtown areas with historical significance. Cyclists on these routes will explore the beauty of Shanghai while immersing themselves in its rich history.
To enhance the cycling experience, Shanghai Tangjiu Group has partnered with Shanghai Phoenix Group and Springtour to offer a mix of culinary delights and leisure activities along the routes. This collaboration aims to merge sports, commerce and social engagement, catering to young consumers and breathing new life into traditional brands.
For example, one route starts at Bright Dairy’s 919 North Xizang Road branch and winds through busy streets such as Wukang Road and Sinan Road. Besides soaking up Shanghai’s historic charm, riders will visit stores such as Joy Maison Nanchang Road branch and Alldays X919 Anfu Road branch, adding a touch of local flavour to their journey.
To further enrich the experience, Shanghai Tangjiu Group has introduced a tourism package that includes cycling adventures, tastings of Bright Dairy products and cultural excursions. Participants can collect gifts at designated stops along the route and receive a care package at the end of the ride, the group said.
